Modern societies are strongly dependent on critical resources and even more vulnerable to uncertain conditions. Despite the ability of controlling technical processes has increased over the past century, several different external and internal factors continue to affect the overall performance and sustainability of complex socio-technical systems. Globalisation, technology innovation and the organisational complexity of several actors are some of the major sources of uncertainty alongside the political context. The SSRM group focuses on the development of theoretical and applied research to enhance system sustainability and resilience through integrated risk management. Relying on a rich portfolio of qualitative and quantitative methods, different domains are investigated.
